
You heard of the 10-Unit Betting System?
Haven’t really heard much about it lately lol.
It’s a betting system from an older generation of players — especially old-school roulette regulars.
The name pretty much says it all: you split your bankroll into 10 units and bet in those units.
How the 10-Unit Betting System Works
Simple.
First, decide on three things: your Target Profit, your Limit, and your Unit size.
- Target Profit (e.g. $100)
- Decide how much you want to make if the 10-Unit System succeeds.
I’ll set mine at $100. - Limit (e.g. $1,000)
- Set an amount you can afford to lose — this is your stop-loss point.
Best to set it at around 10× your target profit.
I’ll set mine at $1,000 — 10× the target. - 1 Unit (e.g. $10)
- Your unit size is your Target Profit divided by 10.
Since my target is $100, 1 unit = $10.
Write out a row of 10 ones
Start by writing “1” ten times in a row.
The 10-Unit System works by crossing off numbers and adding new ones as you go.

First bet: 2 units
Your first bet is the sum of the two numbers at each end of the sequence.
Since 1 unit = $10, the first bet is $20.

If you win
Cross off both end numbers. Your next bet is the sum of the new ends.
And when you win, add the profit to your Limit.

If you lose
Add the number of units you just lost to the right end of the sequence. Your next bet is again the sum of both ends.
And when you lose, subtract the loss from your Limit.

Keep repeating this. Once all the numbers in the sequence are crossed off, you’ve made 10 units of profit.
So — I want to try the 10-Unit System on European Roulette… but honestly, tracking the sequence, calculating the bet each round, and updating the limit after every win or loss — isn’t that just exhausting??
It really is lol.

In my experience, the longer a session drags on, the more it works against you — and eventually the casino takes everything…

I use the Labouchere Betting System all the time, but here’s the thing — the more rounds you play at roulette, the more the odds tilt against you.
In other words, short games are the better play.
But the 10-Unit System splits your target into 10 parts — which sounds low-risk on paper, but from a win-rate standpoint, it’s actually high-risk.
And the longer the game goes, the higher the dollar risk gets too…
I’ll explain all of that while actually playing today.

Wrap-Up
Yeah, the 10-Unit System was trash lol.
Like I kept saying during the session — short games are the key to winning at roulette. A long, drawn-out session is nothing but risk for the player.
And even when you claw back to even, your bets are already inflated from the losing streak — so that original 10-part split becomes completely meaningless.
In this case, I should’ve stopped the moment I got back to even and started fresh with the 10-Unit System on a new session.
A little late for that, I know lol.
Sure, I could try to recover the $160 loss by splitting it with the Labouchere Betting System — but that’s just an infinite loop. Cutting my losses here.
Seriously, just don’t use the 10-Unit System. I cannot recommend it.
