Roulette Bet Restrictions

What’s up, Otaku Bettors!

Let me walk you through the bet types that are banned in roulette!

Opposite Bets (Both-Side Betting)

Opposite Bets

In roulette, both-side betting — known as “Opposite Bets” — is prohibited.

That means you can’t bet on both Red and Black, or both High and Low at the same time.

It also goes by names like “2-tier bet,” “double bet,” and “equal margin bet” — but “both-side betting” is the clearest way to put it.

Now you might wonder — why would anyone bet this way? Well, they’re actually not stupid.

Why Someone Would Bet Both Sides

Say you bet $1 on both Red and Black — as long as zero doesn’t hit, one of them wins — so let’s say Black comes up.
The Black payout is $2.
But since Red lost, that’s -$1 — so you’re at break even, with no profit at all, right??

Red Black
Bet Amount $1 $1
Win/Loss Loss Win
Payout 0 $2
Balance -$1 $1

But here’s the thing — doing this lets players skip rounds without taking on any risk.
In other words, it lets you effectively spin without stakes.

A lot of video roulette games don’t have a no-stakes spin option, so players who want to track the wheel outcomes might be tempted to try this — but from the casino’s perspective, it looks like you’re farming bet volume to boost your VIP rank, fraudulently clearing bonus wagering requirements, or collecting comp points and perks without playing fairly. So don’t do it. Ever.

Some video roulette games actually let you spin without placing a bet, so there’s no need to bother with both-side betting just to skip a round.

Low-Risk Betting

Low-Risk Betting

Some casinos even ban strategies like Beabig Roulette Strategy — this falls under what’s called low-risk betting.

Unlike opposite bets, it’s not banned at every casino — but since player risk is virtually zero, the casino logic goes: they don’t want players farming bet volume to climb VIP ranks risk-free, breezing through bonus wagering requirements, or scooping up comp points and perks without skin in the game.

I get the logic — but honestly, the low-risk betting ban feels like a cheap casino thing to me, personally.
I’m not naming names, but there are a lot of stingy ones out there.
And for the record, I don’t use those casinos, and I don’t recommend them to anyone.
So you’re in good hands!
