Zero Targeting Roulette Strategy

Hotaru

What’s up, Otaku Bettors!

Zero Targeting is a roulette strategy that flips the casino’s own profit mechanism against it.

It goes straight for the green zero (0 and 00) — the number that always sinks outside bets, and the casino’s worst nightmare.

So today I’m going to break down everything about Zero Targeting — how it works, the pros, the cons — in a way that even Smooth Brain Gamblers can follow!

How Zero Targeting Works

Targeting the green zero (0 and 00) in roulette is super easy!

Just place equal chip amounts across 2 to 3 areas — including zero!

For example, at $10 per unit, each spin costs $20–$30.

Here I’ll use $1 per unit as the example.

Zero Targeting example

↑ That’s the rough idea — chip placement looks something like this.
If the ball lands on 0 — 36x payout. If it lands on the 1st or 3rd Dozen — break even.

Bet Amount Area Win/Loss Payout Balance
Round 1 $3 1st 12 Win $3 0
Round 2 $3 3rd 12 Win $3 0
Round 3 $3 0 Win $36 $33

↑ That’s how you wait for zero while keeping your risk hedged.

European Roulette [36x Payout]

For European Roulette, place 1 unit on zero with a Straight Up bet, then 1 unit each on any 2 of the Dozen (1st, 2nd, 3rd) or Column (2:1) areas.

Or, place 1 unit on zero (Straight Up) and 1 unit on any one even-money area — Red/Black, Even/Odd, or 1-18/19-36.

With this setup, even if you miss zero — land on your Dozen/Column areas (2 spots) and it’s a 3x payout — break even. Land on your even-money area (1 spot) and it’s a 2x payout — break even. Hit zero and you’re looking at a 36x payout.

The bet patterns look like this ↓

American Roulette [18x Payout]

For American Roulette, place 1 unit on zero and double zero with a Split Bet, then 1 unit each on any 2 of the Dozen (1st, 2nd, 3rd) or Column (2:1) areas.

Or, place 1 unit on zero and double zero (Split Bet) and 1 unit on any one even-money area — Red/Black, Even/Odd, or 1-18/19-36.

With this setup, even if you miss zero — land on your Dozen/Column areas (2 spots) and it’s a 3x payout — break even. Land on your even-money area (1 spot) and it’s a 2x payout — break even. Hit zero and you’re looking at an 18x payout.

A Note on Combinations

Zero Targeting uses Dozens and Columns as hedge bets — but even though both pay 3x, combining a Dozen and a Column creates overlapping coverage areas.

Overlapping area

↑ It just reduces how much of the board you’re actually covering for loss protection.
Sure, if the ball lands in the overlap you get a 6x payout — fine, that’s nice — but the target is zero, so that combination doesn’t serve the strategy.

Zero Targeting Hit Rate

The hit rate varies depending on which areas you use for your hedge bets.
These figures include rounds where the hedge bet results in a break even.

Dozen (1st, 2nd, 3rd) / Column (2:1)

European Roulette: 25/37 — approximately 67.56% hit rate.
American Roulette (double zero): 26/38 — approximately 68.42% hit rate!

Even Money — Red/Black, Even/Odd, 1-18/19-36

European Roulette: 19/37 — approximately 51.35% hit rate.
American Roulette (double zero): 20/38 — approximately 52.63% hit rate!

Pros

Hotaru

The main advantage of using Zero Targeting in roulette is that you can wait for zero to hit while keeping major losses at bay.

Wait for Zero to Hit While Keeping Major Losses at Bay

This strategy is all about holding out until zero lands.
Betting on zero alone means losses stack up every round you miss — but with enough break-even rounds in the mix, you can hold on until zero finally shows up.
In video roulette especially, the ball can land on zero in ways that seem to completely defy the odds.
And when zero hits in a short span, it’s absolutely electric.

Cons

Hotaru

The main downside of using Zero Targeting in roulette is that if zero doesn’t hit within your limit, you can’t turn a profit.

If Zero Doesn’t Hit Within Your Limit, You Can’t Turn a Profit

Take American Roulette with Zero + Dozen — each spin costs 3 chips, right?
At $1 a chip, that’s $3 per spin.
The Split Bet pays 18x, so 6 losses and you’re done.
Of course, missing all 6 in a row is unlikely, so your session will typically run longer than that.
The limit is 6 complete misses outside your covered areas.

Bet Amount Win/Loss Payout Balance
Round 1 $3 Loss 0 -$3
Round 2 $3 Loss 0 -$6
Round 3 $3 Loss 0 -$9
Round 4 $3 Loss 0 -$12
Round 5 $3 Loss 0 -$15
Round 6 $3 Loss 0 -$18

Of course, win on round 6 and it’s break even.

Bet Amount Win/Loss Payout Balance
Round 1 $3 Loss 0 -$3
Round 2 $3 Loss 0 -$6
Round 3 $3 Loss 0 -$9
Round 4 $3 Loss 0 -$12
Round 5 $3 Loss 0 -$15
Round 6 $3 Win $18 0

Know Your Limit, Avoid Big Losses

The key point is that Zero Targeting has a defined limit — and as long as you know the point at which even a zero win can’t put you back in the positive, you can set rules like “quit after X misses” or “keep going up to round X.”

Zero Is the Casino’s House Edge

Roulette’s zero is neither red nor black, and neither odd nor even — obvious, I know.
In other words, it’s a number that isn’t covered by any outside bet.

That one number alone is what pushes the player win rate below 50% — and that is the true nature of the house edge in roulette.

For example, when betting on either red or black ↓

  • Win rate: 18/37 ≈ 48.64%
  • Loss rate: 19/37 ≈ 51.36%

Stick exclusively to Red/Black and you will lose money in the long run. Guaranteed.
Beginners especially tend to only bet on the simplest-looking options — Red/Black, Dozens, Columns — which makes them easy pickings for the casino.
When a table is packed with outside bet players and zero hits, the house wins big across the board.

The house is always structurally ahead of the player — that’s just good business — and zero is the symbol of that advantage. But whoever had chips on zero at that moment wins.

Understand how the casino makes its money, position yourself to take advantage of it, and you’ve got “Zero Targeting.”

By the way, “Zero Targeting” is an original strategy I (Hotaru) developed myself.

Impressive, right??

Though I’ll be honest — it’s not a guaranteed win.
That said, this is the strategy I used to build my wealth at the roulette table — so personally, it’s my top pick.
Worth a shot!!

FAQ

Can you really win with Zero Targeting?
Not guaranteed — but the whole premise is that zero will hit eventually. The strategy is to minimize losses while you wait, and when zero does land, the payout is huge.
European or American — which is better?
European Roulette (single zero) is generally the better choice. Higher hit rate and a 36x payout — a solid risk-to-reward ratio.
What do I do when zero just won’t come?
Set a clear limit before you start — “stop after X misses” — and stick to it. Dragging it out just piles up losses.
What hedge bet should I use?
For beginners, 2 Dozen or Column spots is the most straightforward. Hit rate of about 67%, and misses tend to break even.
Does it work on any roulette?
Yes — it works on both video roulette and live dealer roulette.

Quick Recap

Hotaru

Got the hang of Zero Targeting?
Let me run through the key points one more time.

Zero Targeting is a roulette strategy that turns the casino’s own advantage — the zero — into your opportunity for a big payout.
By placing hedge bets alongside zero, you can break even on misses and hold out until your moment comes.

Key Takeaways

  • Bet on zero plus equal amounts on other areas to limit losses on misses.
  • European Roulette pays 36x, American pays 18x — either way, hitting zero is a big win.
  • Set a clear limit before you start — extended zero-free runs will eat into your bankroll.
  • Hit rate varies by hedge type — Dozen or Column coverage gives a stable ~67%.
  • Suits both the aggressive player chasing a short-term zero run and the patient player protecting their bankroll.

Whether video or live dealer, roulette is ultimately a battle between you and the house.
Read how the house moves, and this strategy just might be the real deal.
