Flower Bet + Zero Cover — Session Report

Hotaru

What’s up, Otaku Bettors!

If you want to go for a big long-shot in roulette, nothing beats a straight up single-number bet.

The problem is, straight up bets pay big when they hit, but the hit rate is brutally low — and especially on video roulette, where results are random, you can’t actually target a specific number.

That’s where the Flower Roulette Strategy — a roulette strategy that takes the straight up’s 36× payout and pushes it up to 144× through a combination of bets.

By loading chips around your target number, you can still profit even on a near miss — or break even if the payout matches your bet. The whole thing is designed to limit your losses.

But here’s the issue — 0 isn’t covered

On top of that, it takes 9 chips per spin.
At $10 per unit, that’s $90 per spin.
Sure, when it hits, it hits big.
Depending on the zone — 144× on your target number, and at least 36× if you miss by one in any direction.
But from an expected value standpoint, European Roulette only gives you a 2.7% hit rate — the same risk as just going straight up on one number.

With live dealer roulette, players read dealer tendencies to decide where to bet — but as long as 0 isn’t covered, the dealer can clock your chip placement and is likely to aim for 0.
I hear all the time about people playing the Flower Roulette Strategy who got wiped out by a 0.

On video roulette, you can’t predict the next number, so there’s no way to identify which zone is likely to hit straight up.
When you’re using the Flower Roulette Strategy on video, you’re going purely on instinct.

Play it enough and you’ll see — because you’re guessing, the ball almost never lands on the 144× target. Best case, it drops in the double corner + split overlap zone (combined 36×). More often it lands completely outside the zone, or hits an edge corner bet for a break-even.

As someone who mainly plays video roulette, I find the risk-reward just doesn’t add up.

Half-Flower Zero Bet Method

So I designed my own take on it: the “Half-Flower Zero Bet Method” — an improved version of the Flower Roulette Strategy.
It’s a roulette strategy based on the Flower Bet, but with 0 covered!

4 chips per spin.
At $10 per unit, that’s $40 per round.
The numbers covered are “0, 1, 2, and 3” — with 0 as the target.
Unlike the Flower Roulette Strategy, the bet positions are fixed around 0.

↑ Easy enough to memorize, right?

12× Payout

12× payout zone

If the ball lands on 1 or 3, the trio bet alone pays 12×.

42× Payout

42× payout zone

If the ball lands on 2: the 0-2 split pays 18×, the 0-1-2 trio pays 12×, the 0-2-3 trio pays another 12× — 42× total payout.

78× Payout

78× payout zone

If the ball lands on the target 0: straight up on 0 pays 36×, the 0-2 split pays 18×, the 0-1-2 trio pays 12×, the 0-2-3 trio pays 12× — 78× total payout.

At $10 per unit, the payouts look like this ↓

Number Payout Net Profit
0 $780 $740
1 $120 $80
2 $420 $380
3 $120 $80
Other 0 -$40

↑ Not bad, right?
Looks like it prints money.
…if you can actually hit, that is.

Half-Flower Zero Bet Method: Best Bang for Your Buck

Compared to the Flower Bet, the Half-Flower Zero Bet uses less per spin, so losses hurt less.
The Flower Bet has break-even zones, but with the Half-Flower Zero Bet, any covered number pays profit.
And since the Half-Flower Zero Bet covers 0 — the Flower Bet’s kryptonite — landing on 0 is actually great news. Like, really great.
The Half-Flower Zero Bet Method just delivers more for less.

So today, I’m testing the Half-Flower Zero Bet Method in live play to see if it really delivers as promised!

Live Play

Roulette

Setting 1 unit at $10.
Betting as described: straight up on 0, split on 0-2, trios on 0-1-2 and 0-2-3.
It’s a high-risk strategy, so if nothing hits after 10 rounds, I’m walking.
10 straight losses would mean -$400…

Bet position

Ok, Let’s spin!

Spin

Loss

Bet Number Result Payout Balance
Round 1 $40 33 Loss 0 -$40

Went underwater right out of the gate.
Par for the course at the start, I guess.

Round 2 $40 26 Loss 0 -$80

UGH!!!!
Are you kidding me?!
On the wheel, 26 is right next to 0…
Like losing a scratch ticket by one number…
Absolutely gutting.

Loss

Round 3 $40 5 Loss 0 -$120

3 rounds in and nothing but blanks…
Still fine — not even halfway through.

Win

Round 4 $40 2 Win $420 $260

YES!

Not the main target, but that hit hard!!
Genuinely torn about whether to walk now.

My usual play is to cash out at this point — but I have a feeling 0 is coming within the next 6 rounds…

Ok, I’m going for it.

Bet Number Result Payout Balance
Round 5 $40 27 Loss 0 $220
Round 6 $40 18 Loss 0 $180
Round 7 $40 25 Loss 0 $140

Round 9 $40 7 Loss 0 $60

Round 10 $40 8 Loss 0 $20

Ugh… seriously.
Should’ve cashed out when I had the chance…

Honestly, I’m still in the green, so I could stop now — but when I look at the wheel using shift-bet zones, the results so far have been clustering in zones D and A, which are on either side of 0…

Current clustering pattern

Mathematically it means nothing — but if you don’t use patterns like this as a guide, you just can’t win at gambling.

Oh — I track scores while I play, and there’s an Otaku Bettors original score sheet if you want to use it.
Totally free!

Alright, 10 more rounds.
And this time, the moment 0 or 2 hits, I’m out of there. For real.

Loss

AARRGH!!!!!
Went underwater…

If 0 doesn’t show in the next 9 rounds, I’m in trouble…

Get WRECKED!!

I knew it — I just KNEW it was coming!

Gut instinct: 1, Math: 0!

Wrap-Up

All things considered, it went almost suspiciously well.
Maybe a little too lucky.

That said, I lose plenty of sessions normally.
But I still think this beats using the standard Flower Roulette Strategy.
Especially on video roulette, where 0 and 2 come up fairly often — the compatibility is solid.

If you’re interested, give it a try!
