What’s up, Otaku Bettors!
Is it just me, or is it getting harder and harder to find good roulette strategy content online?
I’ve been digging through books and stuff, doing my own research — but the info out there is just… thin.
Not too long ago you could learn from all kinds of sites and YouTube channels, but a lot of them got spooked by crackdowns and shut down their sites or deleted their accounts — the whole casino scene has gone pretty quiet…
That’s when I remembered a strategy I once saw some casino streamer using.
It’s actually a classic — the 31 Betting System, the roulette betting method that guarantees a profit if you win twice in 9 rounds — but the way this person played it was a little different.
My guess? This player was actually playing the 31 Betting System wrong from the start — they were never moving to the next stage after a win.
Basically treating it like a Martingale, just pushing forward on every loss: 1→1→1→2→2→4→4→8→8.
So I imagine they hit a wall like, “What the — this thing doesn’t make any money!” and came up with a next move: the 31 Betting System (Improved).
How the 31 Betting System (Improved) Works
The 31 Betting System (Improved) uses the table below — you bet starting from the top-left and work your way through it.

↑ The numbers represent betting units. At $1 per unit, a cell marked 1 means bet $1; a cell marked 4 means bet $4.
The flow is simple.
- Step1Loss

On a loss, move right. - Step2Win

On a win, don’t move right — move down instead.
Win here and that’s two in a row — reset the system.

If you lose again, move to the next column and start over from the top.
If you keep losing, cut your losses at 9 consecutive losses — maximum loss is 31 units.
Same as the regular 31 Betting System.
Now, the signature move of this improved version is moving down and doubling your bet after a win — but the regular 31 Betting System also moves you to a new stage and doubles after a win. So honestly, this is less of an improvement and more of the standard 9-round 31 Betting System forcibly stretched out to 18 rounds.
Pretty sure the person running it had no idea.
That said, in roulette — when you’re stuck on a streak and two wins in 9 rounds feels impossible — this might actually have some use…
Hmm.
Anyway, let’s just spin and see what happens!
Live Play

Setting 1 unit at $10.

The 31 Betting System works on even-money bets, so I’m going with Black on red/black.
If I can’t land two consecutive wins within 18 rounds, I cut my losses.

Starting from the top-left.
Ok, Let’s spin!

| Bet | Number | Result | Payout | Balance | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Round 1 | $10 | 35 | Win | $20 | $10 |
Nice!

Won, so move down.
Next is 2 units — $20.

| Bet | Number | Result | Payout | Balance | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Round 2 | $20 | 33 | Win | $40 | $30 |
Nice!
Two in a row — reset.
Done already.
That told us absolutely nothing.
Let me restart and keep going a bit longer.
| Bet | Number | Result | Payout | Balance | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Round 3 | $10 | 10 | Win | $20 | $40 |
| Round 4 | $20 | 17 | Win | $40 | $60 |
| Round 5 | $10 | 27 | Loss | 0 | $50 |
Lost immediately after the second system reset (two-win streak).
Alright, this is where it actually starts.
Back to square one.

Lost, so move right.
Next is still 1 unit — $10.
With the regular 31 Betting System, it’s easy to accidentally skip a stage. This version removes that problem entirely — that’s actually a plus.

| Bet | Number | Result | Payout | Balance | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Round 6 | $10 | 28 | Win | $20 | $60 |
Nice!

Won, so move down.
Next is 2 units — $20.

| Bet | Number | Result | Payout | Balance | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Round 7 | $20 | 36 | Loss | 0 | $40 |
Seriously?? Lost again??

Move to the next column and restart from the top.
Next is 1 unit — $10.
Let’s just keep pushing through.
| Bet | Number | Result | Payout | Balance | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Round 8 | $10 | 16 | Loss | 0 | $30 |
| Round 9 | $20 | 2 | Win | $40 | $50 |
| Round 10 | $40 | 30 | Loss | 0 | $10 |
| Round 11 | $20 | 26 | Win | $40 | $30 |
| Round 12 | $40 | 36 | Loss | 0 | -$10 |
| Round 13 | $40 | 12 | Loss | 0 | -$50 |
Ugh, I can’t stop bleeding…

Lost, so move right.
Next is 4 units — $40.
In red/black roulette, you get streaks of the same color, but you also get patterns where colors keep alternating — and with 18 chances, players who used to bust out on the regular 31 Betting System might actually start seeing wins.

| Bet | Number | Result | Payout | Balance | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Round 14 | $40 | 29 | Win | $80 | -$10 |
Phew, climbing back up.
Just a little more to break even…

Won, so move down.
Next is 8 units — $80.
Reaching the 8-unit zone means I really need to land that two-win streak now…

| Bet | Number | Result | Payout | Balance | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Round 15 | $80 | 33 | Win | $160 | $70 |
Get wrecked!
Two in a row!
Taking the money and running!
Wrap-Up
Played someone else’s half-remembered strategy, and it actually held up.
The first four rounds were all wins, so the real action started from Round 5 after the reset. Here’s how the rest played out.

That said, if you’re betting Black and red hits 9 times in a row, you’re done — this run was just lucky.
But since all you’re doing is following the chart in a zigzag pattern, it’s pretty low-maintenance — could be a solid pick for players who find system betting overwhelming.
Either way, that felt good.
